  • Complete your Halloween party with these skeleton cookies baked in just 10 minutes.

Kids will love making these Halloween cookies by famous presenter Kirstie Allsopp. While there may be a few ingredients needed to make these cookies, they are actually very easy to make and ready in just 25 minutes. We used cocoa powder to create a cookie and chocolate filling because it is the ultimate sweet ingredient. You can also swap it out for flour and a splash of food coloring to make cookies in a variety of colors.

    Ingredients

    • For the biscuit:

    • 150g butter

    • 150g brown sugar

    • 175 g (6 oz) condensed milk

    • 1 egg

    • 150g plain flour

    • 115g (4oz) self-rising flour

    • 30g (1oz) cocoa powder

    • For the filling:

    • 115g (4oz) icing sugar

    • 85g (3oz) butter

    • 11Ž2 tablespoons of cocoa powder

    • You will also need

    • Cookie or card cutter and scissors to make your own skeleton trace

    • Ready-made white icing (optional)

    Method

    • Preheat oven to 350 ° F / 180 ° C / thermostat 4. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

    • Beat butter, sugar and condensed milk until creamy. Add the egg (don’t worry if it looks like it’s curdled), beat well then add the flours and cocoa powder. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

    • Roll out the dough on a well floured surface to the thickness of a pound coin. Cut out shapes – we’ve made our own skeleton shape, but you can make any shapes you want.

    • Transfer cookie shapes to baking sheets and bake for about 10 minutes, depending on size. Cool completely on a wire rack.

    • Beat the filling ingredients and use them to take the cookies together. Frost tops of cookies, if desired, with white frosting.

The best tips for making skeleton cookies:

When it comes to cookies, it is best to use your hands to mix the ingredients. The hands work the dough less and make it easier to shape the dough into the shape you prefer.
